Site update
Some time ago Reb01501 and pipester suggested adding some additional data to the book records.
You may notice some changes to the individual book records over time as this update is now being undertaken.
I would like to publicly acknowledge, with grateful thanks, the invaluable assistance of pipester who is providing much of the extra data as well as filling in some of the cover image/description gaps from his collection

Re: Site update
The original database listed the original books in a series by the authors. As part of the audit I am keeping an eye open for omnibus editions which I am adding to the database as I go along. If you have information on any of these please let me know (I've added the Alexander Kent ones so far). I know there are some for the Nathaniel Drinkwater and Horatio Hornblower series but I'm not aware of any others.
Re: Site update
As part of the update I am adding UK & US ebay links to the individual author (not the book) pages. The links are set so that they will only appear if there is something available for that author. I'm using Keywords to limit the results but some of the more common names may occasionaly give a false result. I am hoping this will be useful for some of the rarer authors where there is often nothing available via amazon
Re: Site update
It's about 3 months since I did a progress update. I'm still working through the book database when I get time, probably about half way through now. Work on the Non-fiction and other nautical fiction sections has been completed.
If you are able to fill any gaps in the data, as always, any information is appreciated.

Re: Site update
I am now trying to update the entries for Patrick O'Brian. I don't have all his books on my shelf and as he is so popular there are many entries on the web with conflicting dates. I'm finding it hard to establish whether UK or US editions are first and the correct dates. As many members are a fan of his does anyone have the definitive information on first editions?
Re: Site update
Now I was sure someone had mentioned POB first editions before but couldn't find the post. Managed to at last
pipester wrote:Ah. Thank you, Astrodene. That happens sometimes. (The US edition of Master and Commander is the true first, but it's the UK edition for all the rest of the Aubrey/Maturin series.)
Re: Site update
Well it's taken nearly 6 months but I have now completed the extra data sweep and updated all the records. There are still gaps in the data where I couldn't find the information but hopefully these will be filled over time
