Dame Anne Salmond Empty Dame Anne Salmond

Post by leonidas Sat 21 Jan 2012, 22:04

Delighted to hear Dame Anne Salmond interviewed on radio this am. Her relevant book,
The Trial of the Cannibal Dog: Captain Cook in the South Seas
is referenced.

During the interview she revealed her fondness for the novels of Patrick O'Brian and how she had been reading them while engaged with that book. She commented that both of them must have read some of the same reports, diaries and journals in the research. Her favourite O'Brian:
Master and Commander

She has had a distinguished academic career and has been honoured with the award of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
