The Barbary Pirates by C.S. Forester
One of the few "factual" books written by C.S.Forester about the AOS. This is a historical account of America's entry on the world stage as a power not to be belittled or abused by others, least of all pirates from the Barbary coast.
While it's apparent intent was as a vehicle for young people to learn of this series of events in American history that shaped the emergence of this nation as a world power, it remains valid today. As such, it is recommended reading for any student of American, military or period history. It's an easy read and a good supplement to provide "factual background" for those who want to read HNF encompassing these events.
