Historic Maritime Society re-enactment

Post by Astrodene on Wed 05 Aug 2009, 15:36

Found this on you tube. A short film of members of the Historical Maritime Society (HMS) rowing 'The Blue Launch' at the 2008 'Meet Your Navy' event at Portsmouth UK

This is an excellent video of small boat operation. However, I notice that the original video has been removed from view. I've found what I believe is a similar video from Youtube and have provided it here:

Our "local" version Townshend is a re-creation of Vancouver's launch (we call it a Jollyboat and now have 2 of them) that were used for his exploration of Puget Sound. The great thing about them is that they row and race each other on several evenings each week (during the "good weather season) and You can join the crew (first come, first served) when they go out. They're also used in a corporation "team building" program......(sounds abit like "a bloody war and a sickly season to me).
