Would adding period lists be helpful?
Tagging and Sub-listings
The new tag system seems to be working well and that has enabled me, as previously mentioned, to expand the author listings, I'm still adding more.
Another project I've had in the back of my mind, once I had a working tag system, was to tag the individual books that fell within certain parameters so you could have a list of books set in the War of 1812 for example. As there are well over a thousand potential entries this would obviously take some time so, before proceeding, I'd be interested in members views as to whether you would find this helpful and worthwhile. The listings would be added to the 'Book's timeline' section.
Initial listings could include:
What other lists would be of interest?
Also would anyone be interested in helping by drawing up a list for any of them?

Re: Tagging and Sub-listings
There are series that span these periods. Are you planning to individually tag the books in the series? Oh, wait. I suspect that multiple tags are allowed, aren't they. So you can even cover individual books that cover more than one period.
I would like to help, if the logistics aren't insurmountable.

Correct multiple tags are allowed and I'm intending a list of the books not the authors. In the ramage series for example there are books set in the revolutionay war, one book set during the peace (which wouldn't be tagged) and then books set during the napoleonic war. Whilst one tag will be labelled French Revolutionary war I would intend that books in the period immediately preceding when the revolution was taking place would be included.
Whilst I am tagging it would probably be best to also tag those books featuring the major battles i.e St. Vincent, Trafalgar, Nile, Copenhagen, Saintes, Camperdown etc. We could also consider tagging other significant events such as the Nore/Spithead mutinees.
As to logistics I just need some form of list in the simplest form - this could be mixed i.e for Ramage the book names but for Dan Parkinson just 'all Dan Parkinson' in the American War of Independence list
