BBC radio play The Mauritius Command limited time in April 2011
the BBC is webcasting a 3 part dramatization of The Mauritius Command. It's pretty good. For non-UK residents, access is time limited and it cannot be downloaded, so step lively! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00zzpl5/Classic_Serial_The_Mauritius_Command_Episode_1/

I listened to the first episode and my appetite is well and truly whetted for the next. It would be nice to have all the episodes to listen to at once.

I can change jibsheets at night in a typhoon but I am clueless how to record a web stream of audio. Is there a simple way?
Re: BBC radio play The Mauritius Command limited time in April 2011
I can't do it now' but tomorrow I will give you a guide to recording. It's quite simple if you have a recording software which can be found on the web.
In any case once I finished recording I can airmail a CD.

I have found a "source" for these plays so I will be able to share them with those that want. HMS Surprise was also adapted for radio. PM me if you would like copies.

How to record
I still owe a "guide" for recording sound.
There are many free sound recorder programs available on the net. One of them is "Free Sound Recorder"
http://download.cnet.com/Free-Sound-Recorder/3000-2168_4-10698910.html or:
http://www.sound-recorder.biz/freesoundrecorder.html
After installing it you start running it. It's easy and self explanatory.

Once it runs - you start the program you want to record, either from the web or CD or even Microphone - that's all. If you record from the web, you have to chose "stereo mix" in the input section of the recorder.

Any dramatization of O'Brian's works will of course suffer from the loss of his excellent writing style, but it is still wonderful to hear his great dialog brought to life by actors. These are really well done! Bravo, BBC!
