I just started the Yellow Admiral so I'm just about done with the entire Aubrey series. I've read the entire Hornblower and Lamdin/Lewrie series.

What's next? What do you guys recommend for another series, if there is one?

Thanks

skipc689 -

While somewhat 'diverse' in their approach to HNF, I think you've read some of the best "classic HNF" out there. A couple of series that I believe will continue your 'reading enjoyment' at the same high level:

Richard Woodman - The Nathaniel Drinkwater series
Alexander Kent - The Richard Bolitho series (up to a point).
Julian Stockwin - The Thomas Kydd series

I'm sure other 'shipmates' have their favorites that they'll willing recommend that you add to this list.

And don't forget our shipmate Alaric Bond - his Fighting Sails series, while just begun, promises to be among the best.

Well...I'm done. Finished "21" yesterday.

It was disappointing to left hanging but what are you going to do....

The entire series was an excellent read. Thank you Patrick O'Brian for such a realistic, entertaining series. You were a master of your genre. I am truly sorry for the series to end.

Take Heart !

If you're like many/most of us HNF fans, you've just met "Jack and Steven" for the 1st time.......and you'll be returning for a 2nd 'go' down the road. My 'Premier' and I have each read it several times (next time you might wish to experience the 'audiobook' version by Simon Vance (my favorite) and you'll hear things that you missed on your first read.

Bon Appetite.
