According to most lists, the Hornblower short story "Hornblower's Charitable Offering" was also known as "The Bad Samaritan". The question I have is: where was it known as that title?

I believe that was the original title when it appeared in 'Argosy Weekly - 18 January 1941 - Vol. 305'
