Had some extra time on my vacation and decided to get the books in one go.

Just started His Magesty's Ship, and I was'nt sure what to expect, only on chapter 4 now.

So far it is quite different than any other series I have read, if feels so....down to earth shall I say. Each character seems well thought out about how they act and think, nothing so far I have to "wonder about" to each specific sailor.

They do seem pretty real and beleavable, and the pages do go fast and has me curious on what may happen when it really gets going!!

Cheers, good going Alaric, glad I picked up all your books so far this week and look forward to the adventures ahead!!

Np problem sir, I can't really compare to any others as of yet, but I should finish the book shortly.

Then I'll post up my thoughts in general.

If I could ask, did you take specific historcal characters (High and "low") in mind at all (bibleographies, personal stories from the sailors who were there), or just kind of blended the era and people to come up with your characters?

Cheers, I know, basic question but I was wondering.

The latter mainly, Tom. Obviously when I use historical figures I try and make them as accurate as possible. But the main fictional characters are the product of my imagination, coloured slightly by seamen's letters and stories from the period.
