On a Particular Service
This is #14 in the long running John Pearce Series and our Hero (?) is headed back to England after his many adventures in 'the Med'. With author Donachie's concurrent release of the first novel in his new HNF series (The Contraband Shore) we could be watching John Pearce, Emily, and 'the Pelicans' heading for that 'green flash' at the horizon........or not !!
This one's available in paper, Kindle 'and audiobook'.

Re: On a Particular Service
It's time to get back to Donachie, so tomorrow, On a Particular Service accompanies me up Artillery Hill on my morning walks. After many years together, John Pearce and I have become 'friends' (I've met a few 'John Pearces' in my lifetime and none were 'forgettable'). I'll return with my thoughts 'in a few miles'.

Re: On a Particular Service
I did finish On a Particular Service a couple of weeks ago, but picked up Ellis Meacham immediately and 'was swept away'. So now, it's time to talk about author Donachie's latest.
First, let me dispel any rumor brought on by my earlier 'wonder' if we were seeing a conclusion to the John Pearce series. This 14th episode continues the 'chronological adventures' that began 13 tomes ago. People's lives 'go on' and 'skullduggery' is ever present. Like many series (we use to listen to on the 'radio' or watch before the Saturday afternoon 'double feature' at the local movie house) we read these because 'we don't want to miss what happens next'. And that's why I read them........nothing 'really bad' happens to anybody that you care about'.............and nobody liked Ralph Barkley from day one !! So if you've 'kept up' with this series, don't put it down now.
