Re: A Sea of Gold
I liked Kydd's interaction with Cochrane, though I slowly get the impression the author enjoys writing his character getting involved with all the famous and infamous figures of the Navy of his time, promoted by Nelson, picked on by St Vincent, best buddies with Popham and Cochrane, has served under all the celebrity admirals of the time.
The loss of his financial resources was resolved much too quickly (within a few chapters). That a long with the not very believable secret mission of Renzi was by far the weakest part of the book.
