Women in the Kydd series
Had to think about this one for a bit, as when you only get 'one book a year', you need to do a reprise (or reboot as appropriate) before answering.
Yes, I think you could say that there are 'female characters' spread through the Kydd series. The most 'long lived' to date has been Thomas Kydd's sister (don't ask me her name), but she has 'her cap' set for Thomas' best friend and 'hesitant suitor' Renzi. So far, other 'ladies' have come onto the scene, but usually departed (at least one tragically). To date, Thomas has led the life of a Royal Navy officer that Lord St. Vincent would hardily approve of.

Re: Women in the Kydd series
80 Winters has summed it up. There are women as you might expect with one book entitled The Admiral's Daughter but I don't remember any sea-going ones (other than perhaps a brief mention of passengers on merchant vessels) which I suspect is the thrust of your question.

Re: Women in the Kydd series
Stockwin has wisely steered clear of romance with Thomas Kydd apart from one book.
The romance in the genre is mostly atrocioulsy badly written.

Re: Women in the Kydd series
Romance is hard to write and not always needed or wanted in a story; however, I'm always interested in the women characters, major or minor, and what they contributed to the story or the setting. Thanks for your reply.

rebo1501 - thanks for this information. I've ordered a copy of Persephone. Do you recommend the entire series?
